Upon the potholed streets of Hull, amongst the increasingly gentrified train stations and the suffering of the voiceless that surround them – purposefully and abhorrently disregarded by the ignorant – stand LUMER, surveying the stark reality of it all. The band began with a successful 2021 debut EP ‘The Disappearing Act’ featuring notable tracks ‘By Her Teeth‘ and ‘The Sheets’ as a follow up to their first singles ‘Blood on Suits’ and ‘Burn/Bleed’. They collaborated with French label Beast Records on the release with large tours covering France, Spain and the UK among features at notorious festivals such as Levitation Festival, Binic Festival, Croc the Rock in Switzerland and Valkhof festival in The Netherlands. They performed a session at the infamous BBC’s Maida Vale and performed with a number of notable artists such as; Fat White Family,  Thee Oh Sees, BDRMM, Crack Cloud. Vocalist Alex Evans worked with Celine designer Hedi Slimane as part of his Portrait of a Performer series, featuring on the front cover of HERO Magazine.

Then came the release of the popular singles ‘Hatred is a passion of theirs’ and ‘English Dream’ which both have the uncanny ability to evoke the gritty trauma of modern day society and channel such hurt and agony into wondrously affecting notions. After their first EP, saw the release of their debut album titled ‘No Jury, No Prizes’ with French label Swish Swash and UK label Sour Grapes Records. This album included tracks ‘Dead Conversations’ and ‘One Hundred Years of Solitude’ both of which were met with great acclaim. This was promoted across europe with a 18-date tour of the UK, Germany, France and Belgium that developed the band into the european wide band in demand.

LUMER take the sounds of early Post-Punk music in the form of Joy Division, Wire and The Cure to name a few and entwines this with the modern sound of today, claiming an amass of inspiration from their contemporaries of Protomartyr, Preoccupations & Eagulls.
